How Cloud Technology Is Changing The Way We Work

How is cloud technology changing the way we work? originally appeared on Quora: the place to gain and share knowledge, empowering people to learn from others and better understand the world.

Answer by Amir Ashkenazi, CEO & Founder of Switchboard, on Quora:

As most people know, cloud technology’s benefits to the workplace are undeniable.

Cloud technology has increased scalability and agility at a lower cost than ever before. That’s huge. It has also given teams the ability to collaborate and iterate in real-time from anywhere in the world, improving efficiency and productivity.

Throughout my career I’ve seen the cloud lead to increased performance, reduced overhead costs, and improved work-life balance for employees across industries. Cloud technology allows employees to work from anywhere with an internet connection, opening up a more diverse talent pool. Platforms like Google Drive allow teams to work together on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in real-time, no matter where they are in the world. Switchboard’s workspaces even allow for persistent collaboration on any kind of project, so teams can work both synchronously and asynchronously on the same material.

Cloud technology also goes hand-in-hand with scalability. In the past, companies would have to invest in expensive hardware and software to expand IT infrastructure. But with the cloud, companies can quickly and easily scale computing resources up or down depending on their needs.
