Kuehne + Nagel Group scales well with HPE GreenLake pay-per-use IT

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) introduced HPE GreenLake at the end of 2017. This portfolio of pay-per-use solutions is available for the most important customer workloads. Products within the portfolio focus on big data, back-up, open database and edge computing. As part of HPE's continued focus on offering products based on pay-per-use, the company also announced the new name and enhancements for HPE GreenLake Flex Capacity, a service for flexible use of infrastructure. Kuehne + Nagel Group , an HPE GreenLake user, sees many business benefits and outcomes.

IT teams are under increasing pressure to deliver solutions quickly, but at low costs and risks. The shift to a consumption model and 'everything-as-a-service' does accelerate the business, but also leads to less control for IT departments. That's why, according to HPE, companies need flexibility for their on-premises infrastructure environments, delivering cloud capabilities for workloads. HPE GreenLake should simplify the IT experience and offer customers choices, like where workloads are placed and how they can scale down.

Jim Pavia, VP of Global Infrastructure IT Americas at Kuehne + Nagel Group, the global transport and logistics company, uses the pay-per-use services of HPE GreenLake. "HPE is a strategic technology supplier and partner for us. We use many HPE infrastructure solutions, such as Aruba LAN and wireless switching. Furthermore, HPE 3PAR all-flash storage and HPE Synergy composable infrastructure. In the last six months we have used HPE GreenLake which has delivered good results so far."

Pavia continues: "The consumption model of HPE GreenLake helps us align our storage forecast with our strategy and customer demand. GreenLake offers clear scenarios of what is going to happen, for example data capacity needs, and what we have to do to support it. We can scale well with GreenLake and continue to pay exclusively for services that we actually use. It is a 'no brainer' for us to use an as-a-service model, in this case from HPE GreenLake. We no longer have to make large IT investments that require a lot of capital. We now have good availability and resources thanks to HPE GreenLake, with a firm grip on our data.”

Pavia recommends GreenLake to other IT decision-makers who have to deal with a lot of data. "The service is good and it aligns with our budget. HPE GreenLake works for us as a valuable business case. It is a good start and foundation to further expand your IT and services. The more data and compute placed on GreenLake, the more operational costs will fall. HPE GreenLake is a simple service to use, it sells itself.”
